Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 558 -- EXPERIMENTAL TARIFFS

SPONSOR:  Gibbons (Rector)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Utilities by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill removes the termination date for experimental tariffs
of gas corporations authorized by the Missouri Public Service
Commission which allow schools to purchase aggregate amounts of
gas.  The current tariffs will remain in effect until terminated
by the commission.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will allow schools to
continue to save large amounts of money.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Gibbons; Missouri School
Boards' Association; and St. Louis City Board of Education.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
